Royalties and copyrights are an essential part of the music business. Join California Lawyers for the Arts and attorney Jesse E. Morris, Esq. for a review of music royalties, copyrights, metadata, and associated registrations. This program will provide a framework for understanding different types of music royalties and how they are earned, calculated, and collected. It will also discuss how to register music and recordings with organizations that either pay royalties or utilize metadata in their services such as the Copyright Office, ASCAP/BMI/SESAC, Harry Fox Agency, Music Reports, SoundExchange, and YouTube.
Presenter: Jesse E. Morris, Esq.is the owner of the Los Angeles law firm, Morris Music Law, where he primarily represents songwriters, artists, producers, managers, labels, publishers, and music-related tech companies. Jesse is also co-founder of TuneRegistry, an easy-to-use music catalog manager with integrated music industry administration tools. Jesse is also a musician and composer of music himself who has been in several rock acts.
