On Wednesday, November 15, 2017, 7PM at The Frick Pittsburgh, FashionAFRICANA is proud to present legendary global fashion activist, Bethann Hardison, as part of it's new 4-part Speakers Series, BUILDING & CONNECTING COMMUNITY, with introductory remarks by Jim Rooney regarding 'The Rooney Rule.' The first talk featuring Ms. Hardison is in collaboration with The Frick, as a program of the exhibit Undressed.
ABOUT BETHANN HARDISON:
Bethann Hardison, world-renowned model-entrepreneur and activist, was a pioneering African-American model in the 1970s who has been connected to important players in fashion and the arts for decades. She has been a mentor to international super model, Naomi Campbell and a long-time friend of legendary model, Iman. Ms. Hardison shifted her career from modeling to advocacy – among many other things, She is a founding member of the Diversity Coalition, an organization that campaigns for more diversity on the catwalk and in fashion imagery. In 2014, she was awarded the very prestigious Council of Fashion Designers (CFDA) award for her work in promoting diversity in the fashion industry. FashionAFRICANA is proud to present Ms. Hardison as its spotlight speaker for the launch of its speakers series program.
