The Great Backyard Bird Count is a day for anyone who is interested in birds!
Organized nationally by Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the Great Backyard Bird Count invites bird enthusiasts of all skill levels to take part in citizen science and bird monitoring. Join Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy educators in Frick Park for family-friendly activities and bird watching.
8:00AM - Bird watching hike
9:30AM - Matt Webb from BirdSafe Pittsburgh will be speaking about birds and bird conservation efforts in Pittsburgh
10:00 - 11:30AM - Bird Seed Cafe (Registration required. Register here)
11:30-12:30 - Lunch and Bird - bring your own lunch and watch birds from the Frick Environmental Center living room! We'll be using bird ID tools from Cornell Lab of Ornithology and reporting our sightings on eBird.
12:30-1:30PM - Afternoon bird hike
1:00 - 2:30PM - Bird Seed Cafe (Registration required. Register here)
This is an all-ages event. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
Hikes are rain or shine. Weather-appropriate clothes and footwear with good tread are encouraged.
