It's our seventh season and East Coast debut! The Traverse City Dance Project is a Michigan-based seasonal dance company that was conceived in NYC seven years ago by founders and co-artistic directors Jennifer McQuiston Lott (LA) and Brent Whitney (NYC). We've gathered top dance artists from NYC, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and Michigan, making it a true tri-coastal endeavor. We rehearse in LA and NYC, leading up to our summer dance residency in Traverse City, MI where we invite the local community into our creative process through workshops, open rehearsals, and innovative performances. We are thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to share this evening of dance, music, and celebrations in Lambertville!
This unique program features world premieres by Brent Whitney and Jennifer McQuiston Lott, a new commission by guest choreographer Austin Reynolds (Detroit, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet), live music by the multi-instrumentalist Jonny Rodgers, acclaimed for his skill in playing the glass harp, and performances by avant-garde ensemble Tenth Intervention (Hajnal Pivnik & Dorian Wallace). In addition, we will feature a piece created by Jakevis Thomason and internationally-acclaimed drummer Ian Chang, the first recipients of our choreographic fellowship #Pairings, which connects emerging choreographers and composers, giving them time, space, and funds to create a new work on the dancers of TCDP. For dance and music lovers alike, this one is not to be missed!
